25 Weeks Along

Today I am 25 weeks pregnant!  Baby is as big as an eggplant apparently:

And What To Expect has this to say about the upcoming week:

What's up with your baby? He now weighs a full two pounds and measures nine-plus inches. And this week, his eyes, which until now were developing under fused eyelids, start to open. Of course, there's not much to see in there, but if your baby spots a bright light (or hears a loud noise) near your belly, you may notice an increase in fetal activity. (“Hey, I'm in here, Mommy! Where’s the party!”) What accounts for that response? His brain is more developed and sophisticated

I am feeling lots of kicks and movements now.  He wakes up around 5 am and squirms around for a bit, then gets really active between like 8 and 10.  Then again from like 2-4 and then at night from 8ish to usually when I go to sleep.  Gary can feel it lightly now if he lays his hand on my belly at the right time and the other night we were amused to be watching the kicks showing up on the outside.  I thought for sure with my pudgy belly and anterior placenta it would take alot longer for that. :)  Today I had my highest movements yet, a few inches above my belly button, I am sure in no time he will be kicking away at my ribs and lungs. LOL

Progress on Lucas's bedroom is slow.  Today I cleaned off the old big computer desk and my SIL is coming over tomorrow to help Gary carry it outside to the curb.  I ordered a nice small computer wardrobe since the computer will be staying in there.  At least when it is shut, you won't even know!  Then next weekend my SIL (she is saintly for this) is coming over to help Gary paint.   I think we are going to go with just a basic cream that matches the bedding so we don't have to re-paint when we move out next summer. Gary says that is boring and it is but I will liven it up with wall hangings. Once we are painted, we can get the crib, which Gary's parents are generously providing. :)  We decided to go with this one from Ikea because it matches perfectly the long Hemnes dresser that is mine right now, but will become Lucas's.  It is 6 feet long and the perfect height to throw a changing table pad on and call it a day and it has lots of drawers.  Of course little Lucas won't be sleeping in his room the first few months, so really it isn't a huge hurry but it' still fun to do.

On the blood pressure front, things are maintaining stable.  My average bp for the last week (sunday to today) is 129/80 so just a smidge under where they like it (130/80). They will avoid medication unless the average creeps over 135/85 so hoping it stays where it is for awhile!  Of course, today at 4 (I take my pressure at 8, 12, 4, and 8 each day) my bp was 138/82, which is much higher than average.  Of course, I had been cleaning, I ate way more sodium than I should have for lunch (hang head in shame), haven't had as much water as usual (more head hanging) and I have a headache so I am sure all of that is playing a part of it being higher.  So now I am resting and chugging water, hoping it goes down. :)  We have our babymoon to Disney coming up in exactly 3 weeks from tomorrow so desperately hoping we won't have to cancel!!  Although part of me is tempted to cancel anyway.  I can't get over this fear that I will be fine, go and either something will happen OR I will come back and they will put me on bedrest within a couple weeks.  Then I will be kicking myself for spending that much money on trip when we will be broke!  My work doesn't offer STD so if I am on bedrest, I am making NO money, which would terribly suck.  Gary's paycheck is pretty decent and would cover the bills, but wouldn't leave much left over for food/gas/etc and forget buying baby anything, so bedrest is something to be avoided big time!  I will see how things are at my next appt, which is 5 days before we are scheduled to go and decide then.

I had my first swelling episodes this week, oh joy!  I had escaped this one so far but this week, not so much!  I start out the day with perfectly normal ankles and by the end of the day I have cankles. LOL  Putting them up for an hour seems to help and they are back to normal the next morning.  No swelling in the hands or face though which is good.  :)
